Water Main Break Threatens School Day

School administrators were in close contact with crews digging up what appeared to be a broken water main. Pressure was cut back to homes along 20th Street from Hunziker Drive west to Hayes Avenue, just before Ames High School. Shortly after 7 a.m., city public works officials noticed a drop in water pressure at the school and began digging to find the cause. Northminster Presbyterian Church, south of Fellows Elementary, was also notified of a water main break this morning. The church also had some water pressure this morning.
