I know it's painful, and like the two north poles of a magnet, the more you try to place them together, the more the resist, but YOU MUST put your laws together. These are the laws you teach your young! If they question these contradictions, you PUNISH THEM with bad grades and scathing remarks! Yet you can't put them together in one argument, on one page, in one breath, as they DO NOT FIT TOGETHER!

If the comet moves in a straight line unless a force is applied, then WHAT is that force? Inertia carries if FORWARD, not sideways. Please do better than putting your head in the sand, Jim. You've got youngsters in the readership, and they'll looking to your as a leader. At least be honest and SAY these are contradictory laws, but you think that the Universe should be obliged to follow them anyway, just to make the Newton huggers happy.
